Okay, I'm having some more issues... Since I can't put everything under one roof - which would be awesome, I needed to swap the blog urls for everything to make sense... Except that when I switched the custom domain from one blog to the other, the template somehow screwed up in the one that did have the custom domain... It looks right in the HTML editor and in previews, but the real thing isn't showing some of my tweaks. Basically, http://www.colorsbyk.blogspot.com is supposed to look like http://www.colorsbyk.com but for some reason does not. ??? Thanks!

Yeah, I switched that one back to colorsbykgallery.blogspot.com because all except for one picture disappeared ??? and I don't want to have more than one big difficulty at a time. Too confusing

But my first problem is still a problem - I thought it went away, but apparently not. So... basically, http://www.colorsbyk.blogspot.com is supposed to look like http://www.colorsbykgallery.blogspot.com

So at the moment the custom domain is just floating around unused until I can sort out the current problem.

Sorry about your PC. I figured out why you don't understand the problem my bad. Using the URL http://www.colorsbyk.blogspot.com makes everything look fine. However, if I just use http://colorsbyk.blogspot.com it does the weird thing mentioned above. Is there any way to get the second url to forward to the first (or something)?

(Apparently when you hit the 'view blog' button in the editor it doesn't include the www.)

that cant be fixed because blogger treats both as separate urls..

So you may need to add separate conditions for both these urls..

Really... Hmm. How would I do that, or rather what would I put inside the conditional tag to make it work? Thanks =)

    Hello Aneesh,

I hope you remember that you had recommended custom domain for my blog. I would now like to go for it. So i want to put forward few of my doubts regarding this :

    1. How much web space will be provided ?
    2. Is switching over easy ?
    3. What about payment facilities in India ?
    4. Should i purchase any other domain other than google one ? If yes, then can i use it for all my blogs or only one and how much web space i should have since i am updating blogs in daily basis ?
    5. After using custom domain where my images be saved on picasa or on domain ?
    6. Can i use the same template on domain ?

    Regards,

Swicthing a Custom Domain doesn't involve much change..The only change that will happen is with the url..
For example when you change to custom domain from the blogger settings this url http://experienceswithshirdisaibaba.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-ant-to-see-you-face-to-face.html will change to http://yourdomainname.com/2009/09/i-ant-to-see-you-face-to-face.html Similarly all other existing urls will change..

Nothing else changes..You will be making your posts form blogger.com as usual.. Nothing else changes.

If someone enters you old blog url say http://experienceswithshirdisaibaba.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-ant-to-see-you-face-to-face.html then he will get redirected to the corresponding new url http://yourdomainname.com/2009/09/i-ant-to-see-you-face-to-face.html
After you swicth to custom domain
    1) There is nothing like webspace. It will be just like your current blog. Its just the name that will change.
    2)Switching is easy..
3)You can buy domain domain from name.com if you have a paypal account
5)Images will be as usual saved on picasa
6)your templates, posts, nothing would change

    Hello Aneesh

I have one more doubt regarding custom domain. I got to know that after shifting to custom domain i may loose followers, subscribers and google page rank too ???!!! How far it is relevant

you wont loose any of them..
but the pagerank may drop temporarily(sometimes only)

Feedburner subscriber sount will remain the same..There is no need to make a new feedburner feed for the new custom domain .. you can use the old one itself. And i dont think that you will loose any Friendconnect followers..

my friend too had the same problem.. Blogger is not a domain provider.. They provide domains from other domain providers.. I haven't ever bought domains from blogger.I usually buy from name.com or godaddy.com

BTW i think it will be some issue with blogger and you probably will need to wait for sometime..

    Hello Aneesh,

Yes you are right that blogger do not provide any domain, but through blogger --> settings --> i purchased domain from enom.com Anyways now domain has been activated with few settings and help which i got from enom representatives.

I wanted to share my experience here : as you said -- nothing has changed only google page rank has dropped. Let's see when it gets updated. This has happened with both the blogs for which i bought custom domain.

PR will take time.. PR is normally updated every 5-6 months.. So you will have to wait until the next PR update..
